Abstract

|
Utilization of new medical technology and installation of new medical equipments were investigated on 444 general hospitals including 254 secondary care hospitals and 190 tertiary care hospitals in Korea. These hospitals were further classified into public and private in their establishment. New
r medical technology (8 items) and new medical equipments (10 items) that were subjected to this study were those which were discussed at the 23rd conference of Interantional Social Security Association in 1988.
s In present status of utilization of new medical technology and installation of new medical equipments, some recognizable differences were found among the tertiary care and the secondary care general hospitals and the secondary care hospitals. Nevertheless, no differences between the public and the private hospitals.
Therefore, measures to level up the technology and the facility among the secondary care hospitals should be established for delivery of good quality of medical care. It should be emphasizedthat the public hospitals play a key role in solving this problem.
